Gather your little witches and wizards, snuggle up with some cozy blankets, and maybe even treat yourself to a Cauldron cake or two while you enjoy these spellbinding picks.
1. Hocus Pocus✨
Is it really Halloween if you haven’t watched Hocus Pocus at least once? Arabella’s favourite witchy trio—Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson—bring the perfect mix of magic and mischief to this family classic. Follow their wild antics as they return from the 17th century to cause chaos in modern-day Salem. It's all about spells, black cats, and a bit of ‘90s nostalgia—just pure Halloween fun! Ans don't forget Hocus Pocus 2!!
2. Beetlejuice✨
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! This Tim Burton classic is equal parts spooky and hilarious. Arabella loves the wacky afterlife world created in this film, especially the mischievous Beetlejuice himself. It’s a perfect blend of the strange and the funny, making it a great pick for families who love their Halloween with a side of laughter.
And if you've been living under a rock and didn't know - Beetlejuice 2 is now in cinemas!
3. Corpse Bride✨
We’re back to Tim Burton for Corpse Bride, another one of Arabella’s animated favourites. This gothic romance has that signature Burton style—hauntingly beautiful with a darkly charming story. It’s all about love, loyalty, and, of course, a magical world of the undead.
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas✨
Is it a Halloween movie? Is it a Christmas movie? Well, according to Arabella, it’s both! This enchanting story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, discovering Christmas is a family favourite that blends the best of both holidays. You might even find yourself singing “This is Halloween” for days afterward!
5. Coraline✨
If your little witches and wizards like a bit of eerie adventure, Coraline is the perfect pick. Arabella says it’s just the right amount of spooky without being too frightening for younger viewers. When Coraline steps into a parallel world that seems wonderful at first, she soon discovers it’s more sinister than it seems. It’s a dark, magical story with a brave young heroine at its heart.
6. Casper✨
Who could resist the friendly ghost, Casper? This heartwarming ghost story has just the right amount of spooky fun. Arabella loves how it’s filled with lighthearted ghostly antics, and of course, Casper himself is a charmer! A perfect one for younger children who want to enjoy the magic of Halloween without the scares.
7. The Haunted Mansion (2023)✨
Arabella couldn’t wait to include the newest version of The Haunted Mansion. Full of ghostly surprises and plenty of family-friendly frights, this film is inspired by the famous Disney ride. With its mix of adventure, mystery, and a few unexpected twists, it's a thrilling watch for all ages.
8. Ghostbusters✨
Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! Arabella’s love for Halloween wouldn’t be complete without this ghost-busting classic. Full of ghostly chaos, slime, and unforgettable one-liners, this is a perfect film to watch if your family enjoys a little bit of spooky comedy. Plus, the theme song is iconic!
9. Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost✨
What’s Halloween without some Scooby-Doo adventures? Arabella has fond memories of watching Scooby and the gang solve mysteries, and The Witch’s Ghost is one of her top picks. With its mix of a mysterious witch and the always-hungry Scooby-Doo, it’s a fun and spooky choice that even the youngest wizards will enjoy.
10. Coco✨
Lastly, we have Coco, a beautiful film that celebrates Día de los Muertos. Arabella loves how it brings a heartwarming story of family, remembrance, and following your dreams to the screen. It’s visually stunning and filled with music and joy, making it a perfect feel-good film to end your Halloween movie marathon on a sweet note.
So there you have it, Arabella’s top 10 Halloween movie picks! Whether you're into friendly 👻ghosts, 🧙♀️witches, or a bit of Tim Burton magic✨, there’s something on this list for every magical family.
